Solidarity

I never forget a young student, 18 years of age visiting one of my exhibitions in my Galleries in Norway. He stopped deeply fascinatet in front of this image and needed to talk about it. He then told me that he had taken a loan to establish a school for orphaned children in Cambodia.
That means that he after a year in Cambodia would return to Norway and work to repay his depth, which could take years. We talked about our western worlds mostly lost understanding of Solidarity and Empathy. This unique young man was one of the very few that immediately grasped the Language of my Art.
Reflections about the Meaning of Solidarity hardly exist in a western world where the dominant Mantra is greed and Consumption. It seems the world itself is nonexistent in the mental vocabulary. Insight and Concern for humans and the planets sufferings have become abstract entities which disturb the Monster of Exploitation of weaker fellow human beings recourses.
I dont, believe that we humans or the Globe, as we know it, can survive if the privileged don’t learn to share in a new Road of Social justice.
But it would assume a path of Knowledge, Reflection into ourselves, Soulwork and the Rebirth of Solidarity and Empathy. In that case we would have to believe in a mental revolution.
